Toned Legs You’re Excited to Show Off

It can feel embarrassing to wear shorts when you have cellulite, loose skin, and unwanted fat on your thighs. Fortunately, a thigh lift can correct all of these issues—revealing smooth and defined legs that you can’t wait to show off in the summer. With a thigh lift, Dr. Wingate can:

  • Reveal smooth and shapely thighs
  • Reduce stretch marks and cellulite
  • Correct sagging skin
  • Tighten lax muscles

Types of Thigh Lifts

Mini Thigh Lift

The mini thigh lift corrects sagging skin on the upper inner thighs. This approach requires one small incision in your groin.

Inner Thigh Lift

The inner thigh lift addresses the inner part of your thigh only. It usually requires an incision that starts in your groin and extends down your thigh.

Outer Thigh Lift

The outer thigh lift firms the outer thigh only. This technique requires an incision that begins in your groin and wraps around your hips.

Spiral Thigh Lift

The spiral thigh lift tightens and tones the entire thigh area—including the front, back, and sides. This approach requires two incisions: one that begins at the groin and extends to the knee and one that runs from hip to hip.

The Surgery

Dr. Wingate will perform your thigh lift under general anesthesia. Once the medication has taken effect, he will make an incision in your groin area. For more extensive thigh lifts, this incision may extend around the back of your thigh or around your hips.

Through that opening, Dr. Wingate will remove fat, tighten lax muscles, trim away excess skin, and reposition drooping tissue. He will also place sutures deep within your thighs to support your new contours. Once your beautiful new thighs have been shaped, he will close the incisions with sutures to complete the surgery.

The Recovery + Results

Your initial recovery period will last one to two weeks. Your new contours will be visible immediately but obscured by swelling and bruising. You should see the full results once all residual swelling has subsided, which usually occurs at six months.

Thigh Lift Frequently Asked Questions

Am I a candidate for a thigh lift?

Candidates are typically in good overall health and have excess skin or tissue along the thighs that has not improved with diet or exercise. A consultation allows Dr. Wingate to evaluate your anatomy and recommend the most effective approach.

Do I need a thigh lift or liposuction?

A thigh lift focuses on removing loose skin and reshaping the thigh contour. Liposuction targets localized fat. In some cases, both techniques are used together to achieve a smoother and more balanced result.

Will a thigh lift help thighs rub together?

Excess skin and tissue along the inner thighs can contribute to chafing when walking. Reshaping the area may reduce friction and create a more comfortable contour.

How long should I wait after weight loss before considering a thigh lift?

Surgeons generally recommend waiting until your weight has stabilized. This allows the skin and underlying tissue to settle so the procedure can deliver a more lasting contour.

Do I need to wear compression garments after a thigh lift?

Compression garments are commonly recommended during early recovery. They support the surgical area and help control swelling while the tissues heal.

When can I start walking normally again after surgery?

Light walking is usually encouraged soon after surgery to promote circulation. Most patients gradually return to normal movement over the following weeks as healing progresses.

Will a thigh lift make my legs look natural?

The procedure focuses on creating balanced contours that align with your body’s proportions. Careful reshaping helps ensure the thighs look smooth and natural rather than overly tight.

How long does swelling last after a thigh lift?

Swelling is most noticeable during the first several weeks and gradually improves as healing continues. Subtle changes in contour may continue for a few months as the tissues settle.
