The Surgery
Dr. Wingate will perform your mastopexy under general anesthesia. Once the medication has taken effect, he will begin the artistic process of shaping, elevating, and repositioning your breast tissue.
He will perform your lift in one of three ways, depending on your unique needs:
Periareolar
The periareolar breast lift is also known as the donut technique because the incision is created around the areola, just like a donut. Through that opening, Dr. Wingate can make minor adjustments to the position of your breasts. As such, it tends to be the ideal option for women who require a less substantial lift.
Vertical Scar
The incisions for this approach are created around the areola and down the front of the breast. Because the opening is larger than with the periareolar technique, Dr. Wingate can address moderate to severe breast drooping with this approach.
Horizontal Scar
This approach requires the largest opening—around the areola, down the front of the breast, and along the breast crease. Through that extensive incision, Dr. Wingate can lift very large breasts and correct the most severe degree of breast drooping.
