The Surgery

Your fat transfer will be done under general anesthesia. To begin the procedure, Dr. Wingate must first perform liposuction to extract fat from the donor site—such as the abdomen, thighs, or flanks. Once liposuction is complete, he will filter and clean the fat before carefully injecting it into your face.

Recovery + Results

You can expect swelling and bruising on your face and at the donor site for about one week after surgery.

It can take a few months for the new blood supply to your fat grafts to grow. For this reason, your final results will take about six months to appear.

Facial Fat Transfer vs. Injectables Which One is Right for You?

BOTOX and dermal fillers are both wonderful and highly effective treatments for facial lines and folds. The primary drawbacks are that they use synthetic ingredients and they last anywhere from six months to two years, at which point you’ll need a maintenance treatment. How long will my fat transfer results last?

The fat that survives the transfer and develops a new blood supply will remain in place as a new part of your facial tissue. However, you will continue to age naturally, and any weight fluctuations can impact your results. In general, our patients continue to see a marked improvement in their signs of aging for up to seven years after their facial fat transfer.

What donor sites can be used for my fat transfer?
