Rested. Youthful. Beautifully You.

When the skin beneath your eyes stretches with age, it can result in heavy bags, excess fatty deposits, and an overall heavy and tired appearance. A lower eyelid lift with Dr. Wingate (also known as a lower blepharoplasty) can address these issues, removing the extra volume and restoring a beautifully youthful expression.

Feel Like Yourself Again

A lower eyelid lift with Dr. Wingate can:

  • Lighten and reduce heavy undereye bags
  • Remove excess skin, sculpt and redistribute fat of the lower eyelids
  • Smooths away creases, folds, and wrinkles beneath the eyes
  • Restore a rested and youthful expression

The Surgery

During lower eyelid surgery, Dr. Wingate will make a precise incision either inside your lower eyelid or just beneath the lower eyelashes, hidden within your natural creases. Through these tiny openings, he will remove excess skin, muscle, and sculpt and redistribute fat. Once he’s addressed the extra volume, he will smooth and contour the area to restore a naturally youthful expression.

The Recovery

You’ll return home shortly after surgery to begin healing. Most of our patients return to the normal daily routine in about two weeks. However, it can take a few months to heal completely. As you recover from the procedure, please know that our entire team is here to support you and ensure that you have everything you need to heal.

A Modern Approach Transconjunctival Blepharoplasty

Transconjunctival blepharoplasty is a variation of lower eyelid surgery. With this approach, the incisions are completely hidden inside the eyelid, resulting in no visible scars. A key distinction is that this approach can only address fat beneath the eyes.

If your primary concern is heavy bags that can be reduced by removing or repositioning fat, this may be an option. However, if you also require skin removal, you’ll need an external incision along your lower lash line.

Lower Eyelid LiftFrequently Asked Questions

What are the signs that I may benefit from a lower eyelid lift?

If you’re unhappy with the way your eyes are aging and you want to improve puffiness, drooping skin, and wrinkles beneath your eyes, you may benefit from a lower eyelid lift.

Will I have scars after lower eyelid surgery?

Dr. Wingate will carefully place each of your incisions so that they are either completely hidden inside the eyelid or within the natural creases beneath your lashes. As such, the resulting scars should be virtually imperceptible once you’ve healed from the procedure.

When can I return to work after upper eyelid surgery?

Most of our patients in Wayne and the surrounding areas are comfortable returning to work within one week. At that point, most of the swelling and bruising should have dissipated.

Can I have an upper eyelid lift at the same time as my lower eyelid lift?

Absolutely. In fact, if you want to address signs of aging on the upper and lower eyelids, the ideal approach is to combine the procedures.
