Reveal a Healthy and Radiant Complexion

Chemical peels can enhance the appearance and feel of your skin. During your procedure, we will apply a specialized chemical solution to the treatment area. This solution will cause the damaged outer layer of your skin to peel away, revealing smoother and less wrinkled skin underneath. A chemical peel with our in-house specialist can treat:

  • Wrinkles, creases, and fine lines
  • Telltale signs of sun damage
  • Scars (including acne scars)
  • Uneven skin tone, redness, and hyperpigmentation

A More Radiant Complexion

Chemical peels are a proven skin resurfacing treatment that removes damaged outer layers of skin to reveal a smoother, more radiant complexion beneath. Performed by our in-house skincare specialist, peels can address a range of concerns including uneven skin tone, fine lines, sun damage, and texture irregularities. Chemical peels can also be performed in conjunction with other treatments and procedures for a more comprehensive and personalized approach to skin rejuvenation.

Your Chemical Peel Experience: What to Expect

We will perform your chemical peel in the comfort of our Malvern plastic surgery office. To begin, we’ll clean your face and apply a topical anesthetic. If you’re having a deeper peel, we may use a regional anesthetic as well.

During your chemical peel, Dr. Wingate will apply the chemical solution to your skin for a brief period of time to create a controlled injury and penetrate the desired skin depth. You may feel a hot sensation followed by a stinging sensation. To complete the procedure, Dr. Wingate will remove the chemical solution and prepare you for the recovery.

Chemical Peels Frequently Asked Questions

When will I see the results of my chemical peel?

Your results will be apparent once your skin heals, and that timeframe depends on the depth of peel you had performed.

What is the recovery like for a deep peel?

Deep peels involve a substantial recovery period. During this time, the treatment area will peel and crust for several days to weeks. You may need painkillers and your skin may remain red for up to three months. However, the results will be dramatic and can last up to ten years.

How should I care for my skin after a chemical peel?

After treatment, patients are typically advised to keep the skin moisturized, avoid direct sun exposure, and use gentle skincare products. Following the recommended aftercare helps protect the new skin as it heals.

Will my skin peel after every chemical peel?

Peeling varies depending on the type of peel used. Lighter peels may cause mild flaking, while deeper peels can result in more noticeable peeling as the damaged outer layers shed.

Can chemical peels be performed on areas other than the face?

Yes. Chemical peels are sometimes performed on the neck, chest, or hands to address discoloration and skin texture concerns in those areas.

How often can I receive a chemical peel?

The frequency depends on the strength of the peel and your skin’s response to treatment. Some lighter peels can be repeated periodically, while deeper peels are performed less often.

Are chemical peels safe for all skin types?

Many chemical peel formulations are designed to work across a range of skin types. During your consultation, your provider will recommend a peel that is appropriate for your skin tone and concerns.

Can a chemical peel be combined with other facial treatments?

Chemical peels are often incorporated into broader skincare plans that may include injectables, laser treatments, or medical-grade skincare. Combining treatments can address multiple skin concerns more comprehensively.

Will a chemical peel make my skin more sensitive to sunlight?

Newly treated skin is more sensitive to ultraviolet exposure. Consistent use of sunscreen and sun protection is essential while the skin heals.
